Our adoption agency told us most of their birthmothers did not usually name their newborns, so we should think about names. We came to the 1st meeting of our son (this was a closed adoption) with our hopes, dreams and a list of names. Our social worker informed us that the birthmother had indeed picked out names however it was our decision to use the name or not. We chose to add this name to the one we had chosen. We now have two sons who are very proud of their 2 middle names; one from their Mom & Dad and one from their birthmothers.
